In reference to our relationship, he used "have" instead of "had". And I am a literature student. Such nuances in verb tense is the gruel of the curriculum I've been fed, the holy heights of close readings. This one little slip divulged his unwillingness to let us slip away. I want to use that, a rare moment of his emotional vulnerability, as a lever to propel my ego of his gravity, out of his (metaphoric) arms.
